In 2024 I was brought on board to provide graphic design services for the landmark UK premiere of Beyond Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience at Liverpool’s Exhibition Centre and the marketing campaign that launched it. The core key artwork had already been developed by the producers, Annerin, through earlier presentations in Canada, so my role centred on adapting and extending that established visual foundation for the European debut. Using state-of-the-art projection mapping, the exhibition brings more than three hundred of Vincent van Gogh’s masterpieces to life across every surface, with brushstrokes that dance and shift, colours that bloom and dissolve, and a powerful original score that envelops visitors in a true 360-degree multisensory journey through his world.
I designed whatever the marketing campaigns required, working in close collaboration with marketing company Bill Elms Associates. This included print and screen graphics, large-format outdoor materials and tailored front-of-house designs for the venues, all created to feel as dynamic and immersive as the experience itself while staying true to the existing aesthetic and building genuine anticipation with UK audiences.
The response has been extraordinary. The 2024 Liverpool run welcomed around sixty thousand visitors as part of a wider UK tour that attracted well over one hundred and fifty thousand people across major venues including Glasgow’s SEC and Birmingham’s NEC. Such was the success that Beyond Van Gogh returned to Liverpool in summer 2025 for an extended run, this time joined by the UK premiere of its sister exhibition Beyond Monet, which brings nearly four hundred of Claude Monet’s luminous works to life in the same immersive style. My involvement continues as the exhibitions tour successfully across the UK, with dates in Aberdeen, Exeter, Edinburgh and further cities still ahead.
