Radio Live is a sparkling, laugh-out-loud theatrical celebration of broadcasting’s golden eras — a fast-paced mix of outrageous anecdotes, razor-sharp impressions, original comedy songs and nostalgic sketches delivered by some of the most recognisable voices ever to grace the British airwaves.
Produced by Highfield Productions, the show brings together a dream team of broadcasting legends whose combined on-air experience spans well over two centuries. Headlined by national treasure Dame Joanna Lumley as special guest, alongside Sir Richard Stilgoe, master impressionist and comedian Alistair McGowan, iconic BBC newsreader Charlotte Green and long-serving Today Programme sports presenter Garry Richardson, the production has enjoyed multiple sold-out tours across major UK venues including Chichester Festival Theatre, the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre and Cadogan Hall.
For Highfield Productions I originated the complete visual identity and key artwork for the show.
The original logo paid playful homage to the golden age of wireless, drawing direct inspiration from the tuning dial of a classic valve radio. The frequency marker was cleverly subverted to form the twin “i”s in “RADIO LIVE”, creating a witty, memorable mark that perfectly captured the show’s irreverent humour and affection for broadcasting heritage.
For the show’s triumphant return tour I refreshed the identity with a sophisticated nod to mid-century BBC design heritage. The refined logotype employed the elegant, quintessentially British Gill Sans typeface, delivering authentic period cues while remaining crisp and versatile across large-scale theatrical posters, programmes, digital assets and stage backdrops.
The resulting campaign visuals, bold 3D lettering paired with a hero vintage microphone, striking ensemble portraits and atmospheric stage photography, helped position Radio Live as the must-see night out for anyone who loves radio, comedy and pure nostalgic joy. The artwork travelled successfully across multiple tours, consistently reinforcing the production’s warm, witty personality and star-studded appeal.
This project demonstrates my ability to create concept-driven branding that feels both culturally rooted and commercially sharp, work that not only looks beautiful but actively elevates the live experience and connects with audiences on an emotional level.
